Acoustic Delta and Country Blues - TAKIN' SAM'S ADVICE - BERT DEIVERT, GRA026 GRAVITATION
Bert Deivert has just released 9th album, TAKIN' SAM'S ADVICE, featuring lots of blues mandolin and appearances by topflight musicians from Sweden and the US. Blues mandolin is a neglected instrument in acoustic blues and very few artists release albums featuring mandolin. Here is a chance to find out how exciting it is!

Bert Deivert is forging new ground with his interpretations of vintage blues material on mandolin and guitar.
His main influences for this album are Sam Chatmon, Son House, and Yank Rachell.
In 1966 Bert saw Son House on public television and was so amazed by what he saw that he immediately broke a wine bottle and made his own bottleneck for playing slide guitar. He has been hooked on the blues and Son House ever since. His road to the blues began then and crystallized on the streets of San Francisco in 1973-74 where he honed his skills, gained experience, and held audiences with his particular music mojo. Peter Case was the first of many musical friends that Bert was to play with or record with over the years. Bert’s musical home base soon switched to Sweden where he continued meeting people and hooked up with folks like blues artist Eric Bibb, rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson, old timey legend Tom Paley, and Irish piper and singer Christy O'Leary. Why he even had a stint playing charango in Peru with a street band there for a couple of months! On a recent trip to Mississippi he jammed with local bluesmen T-Model Ford, Bill Abel, Cadillac John Nolden, and Jimmy “Duck” Holmes.
He still lives in Sweden and tours wherever the blues take him...
