Bert Deivert
born 1950, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Bert Deivert grew up in Derry, New Hampshire, on the east coast of the United States. He finished his university studies as an award-winning filmmaker with an MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, while supporting himself as a musician. He moved to Sweden in 1974 where he embarked on his career as a singer/songwriter. He has had songs covered by other artists, done numerous radio and tv shows, and composed for theatre. Bert has played together with such diverse musicians as singer/songwriter Peter Case, rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson, old-timey legend Tom Paley, blues artist Eric Bibb, and Irish singer/piper Christy O'Leary.

Irish traditional music has been his passion for the past 25 years, making trips to Ireland to play music as often as he can. He began playing in a duo with Christy O'Leary in the year 2000, and now Bert’s main focus is on Irish music. His unique guitar and bozouki accompaniment is easily recognizable. He also performs traditional Irish and Swedish music with his wife Eva in their duo LÖCKRA. Bert's main instruments for folk music are Irish bozouki and DADGAD tuned guitar.
